The Stoors were one of the three breeds of Hobbits. Like the other Hobbits, the Stoors lived in the Vales of Anduin. They were a riverside people that dwelt in the Gladden Fields, and were known as skilled fishermen and warriors.
These Stoor-type Hobbits were known to be heavier and broader in build than the other Hobbits in Middle-earth. Among the Hobbits, the Stoors mostly resembled to Humans and were most friendly to the Northmen in Rhovanion. Stoors were the only Hobbits who normally grew facial hair.
