Born in 2983 3A, Ferdibrand was the son of Ferdinand Took and his unnamed wife. He was seven years old when his father died during the Battle of Bywater. At the age of seventeen, he attended Bilbo's Farewell Birthday Party. Remembering how his father fought in the battle of Bywater, Ferdibrand was given a Barrow-blade by the Maiar Tom Bombadil.
During the War of the Ring, Ferdibrand joined the Shire Company under the leadership of Will Whitfoot. He travelled south where he fought in the Battle of Pelennor Fields. He later travelled to the Black Gate with the combined armies of the Free Alliance and prepared for their final strike against the forces of Mordor. Ferdibrand survived the battle and attended the coronation of Aragorn.
