Duinhir was a Ranger from Ithilien who served as the leader of the great village of Blackroot Vale, located in the uplands of Morthond. He is the father of Duilin and Derufin, and the grandfather of two unnamed grandchildren.
Biography[]
During the War of the Ring, he came to the aid of Minas Tirith with his two sons, and 5000 Ithilien Rangers before the Battle of Gondor began. Duinhir was notably tall and was seen by Bergil and Pippin as he rode through the White City. He survived the battle, but his sons tragically died in the battle. Duinhir mourned for them, but honored them as heroes for saving Gondor from falling. He later fought in the Battle of Morannon and lived throughout the Fourth Age.
